To Wisconsin We Go?

It's been decided. We are going to Wisconsin for medical school. Medical College of Wisconsin that is.

I know what you all are thinking though. Why Wisconsin? I asked myself that same question when Tyler applied. I asked it again when he went to interview, and I asked it one more time when we decided to attend.

But I've been doing a lot of research about Wisconsin to see what kind of a place we'll be raising our family in. And I've now been asking myself the queston, why wouldn't we move to Wisconsin? It's a place where the they host a State Cow Chip Throwing contest (yes, you read that correctly) and where you can find the Hamburger Hall of Fame. Wisconsin is also the jump roping capital of the world, the Swiss Cheese capital of the world, and the Toilet Paper capital of the world. Wow. Are you getting jealous yet?

Okay...in all seriousness, we are looking forward to Wisconsin. I'm very proud of Tyler for all of his hard work at BYU and while he was applying for medical school. I am also excited for him to enter medical school!
I also have really been doing research and it seems like a beautiful place to live. We will be living very close to Lake Michigan and to some beautiful light houses. Because of the varied landscapes of Wisconsin there are many outdoor recreational activities available. There are national parks and I've heard the people are so friendly. I've also been looking at the housing that is available. I was really worried we would have to downsize, but it looks like everything is pretty spacious. Plus, it's not too far from The Windy City, Chicago.

Milwaukee at night. It looks promising.

A Night Out

Tyler's parents came down to babysit Katelyn to give us a night out with some friends (Thanks guys) so we could go to the BYU baseball game. There's nothing quite like the feeling of sitting in warm weather, watching a ball game while eating a hot dog.

Here's a picture of some of our friends that came with us
More friends that joined us!
And here's Tyler and I!

Resemblance

So Katelyn has come up with a new way of smiling. She smiles really wide, scrunches her nose and squints her eyes. For some reason, everytime she does it, the image of the Kool-Aid man pops into my head. And then I get thirsty. Anyway, we conducted a poll and approximately 67% of the participants agree that a resemblance exists. Decide for yourselves... (sample size of the poll was 3).

Behind the Wheel

Yeah, she got pulled over. But, after the lecture on driving without a license and changing lanes without signaling, the cop couldn't resist her cute face and let her off with a warning.

The Office

"Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh I dunno, I sing in the shower? Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I'll hit somebody with my car. So sue me-- no, don't sue me. That is opposite the point I'm trying to make." -Michael Scott
Tyler and I have recently become big fans of The Office--and our good friends are returning to NBC tomorrow night! (No, we're not losers, but if you've seen the show you would understand why I've called them good friends. Really.)

Top 10 reasons you know you're a mom...

1. You find yourself humming "Old McDonald" while cleaning your house.
2. Your 'you' time consists of your ten minutes in the shower.
3. You've read more children's books in the last four months than any other kind of book in your entire lifetime.
4. A night in the town means taking the kids out past six p.m.
5. You ask where the 'potty' is.
6. Your vocabulary lately consists of hi, bye, ma-ma, da-da, and more.
7. You hide in the bathroom to be alone.
8. You hire a sitter, but spend half the night checking in on the kids.
9. You keep buying clothes, but they're not for you.
10. You consider parenting to be the best job in the world and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Have anymore reasons that make it obvious you're a mom? Post them below!

I love to read the holy scriptures...

I'm normally pretty good about putting my scriptures back where they belong after I'm done using them for the day, but yesterday I just didn't for some reason and left them on my living room floor. I had to go into the other room to grab something and even thought about putting them back, but decided that they would be okay for now. I figured that even if Katelyn did get a hold of them she couldn't open up the snap.
I was surprised to find when I returned that not only had she gotten a hold of my scriptures, she had opened them and was happily turning the pages. I thought to myself, "Oh yea, my baby already loves the scriptures!" (And then, of course, I quickly grabbed my camera and took a picture).
Sadly though, my happiness did not last because in truth all Katelyn really cared about was grabbing hold of a single page so she could rip it out, which she did. I guess we now have a new rule in our home: don't touch, just listen.

Hats off to you

We thought Katelyn looked cute in her dad's hat. I don't think she agreed with us. You can definitely see the displeasure on her face.

Crazy Kid

I sat Katelyn down next to me on the couch with a couple of things to keep her occupied. When I looked over she had this necklace hanging out of her mouth, and she was intently reading her book.
