pumpkin carving
one saturday evening we broke out the pumpkins and started to carve. the kids both had a pumpkin they were in charge of. they each got to choose their own design. katelyn choose a skull with a bow and tanner chose a monster.
they were both interested in taking the guts out, which really isn't too bad for us parents.
of course the fun of pumpkin carving wore off. tyler ended up alone at the table finishing up all of the carving.
the weather was so nice that evening that we headed outside after we were done with our pumpkins.
reese thinks everything is hers these days. she was crying because she wanted the bat and ball.
she eventually won.
another of tanner's silly faces. he's always pulling those these day.
coloring
tyler suprised the kids with a new kid-sized table that he built. they love it and use it all of the time.
do you see the pigeon katelyn drew. do you recognize the book it's from? a pretty cute drawing if you ask me.
reese wasn't coloring at the time but was nearby with her book.
getting bigger
brynn sure is growing! i can tell she's getting bigger, more alert and is smiling more readily. i have put her in these jammies a lot because i love them so much, but now they're getting a little more snug. it's a little bittersweet seeing her moving on from the newborn phase of life.
daddy with his baby
this was actually brynn's first week of life, but i don't want to forget it. daddy hanging out with his new baby girl.
the pumpkin patch
we got to go to the pumpkin patch with tanner's preschool. it was a chilly day, but the kids had so much fun running around the maze, hearing a halloween story and picking out their very own pumpkin.
this was tanner's first pumpkin choice. he wanted to pose with it, but didn't end up picking that pumpkin.
one of tanner's dear friends, finn. i just love these two together. they are two peas in a pod.
big girl
brynn finally got to wear real clothes to church other than her jammies. i thought she looked especially adorable in her new outfit.
obviously picture time was a little boring for her.
brynn's blessing day
brynn's blessing day was wonderful. we had family meet at our place before hand for a little brunch then headed to the church. tyler gave her a beautiful blessing that is still etched in my mind. we love our little brynn and love the many wonderful people who were able to join us that day.
reese in boots
this is so typical of reese, wanting to walk around the house in just a diaper with shoes on. in her mind, clothes are optional, even when it's cold outside.
grandma bastian
we were so, so lucky to have my mom come out to help us after brynn was born. this woman is amazing and can juggle it all! she took care of my kids and let me rest and took care of her calling and work responsibilities from my house. she's one amazing lady. as always mom, thank you so much for coming. we were always in great hands.
tanner's birthday
this little boy turned 4 this year. we sure love him and his spunky personality. tanner is 100% boy. he is our trouble-maker, tantrum-throwing, high energy child. he is soooo loving and kind. he is the best brother to his sisters. he takes care of them and tries his best to make and keep them happy. he is so fun to joke around with because he has this great contagious laugh. we sure love our active four year old.
for tanner's birthday activity we took him to boondocks. tanner was thrilled about this idea, and so were we. we signed him up for their birthday club, and he got to do everything for free. he obviously had a great time because he's still talking about boondocks.
after boondocks we headed to emily's house for some pizza and presents.
the next day, tanner grabbed all of his new toys and asked me to take pictures of him posing with them.
