discovery

one of my very favorite things is seeing my babies discover something new for the first time.  i love to watch their curiosity and excitement as they explore whatever it is they are getting their hands on.

brynn recently got a hold of one of our old bouncy balls.  she was literally shaking with anticipation when i brought the ball out.  she knew it was something fun to play with.

she spent a little bit of time just holding the ball, but then it rolled away from her reach.  she tried as hard as she could to get that ball back, but she just couldn't do it.  she's been rolling since four months, but she hasn't really learned how to use to her advantage yet.  so we sat her up and let her play that way, and it seemed to work pretty well.

sunday morning

this year our ward has been assigned the time of 2:30 to meet for church.  that leaves us with a lot of time to get ready for church.  mostly our mornings consist of breakfast and lunch, lots and lots of play time, bath time, getting dressed and finishing up last minute things then heading off to church.

i'm currently trying to get a sunday box all set up for my kids.  i'm planning on having different files they can choose from to keep them busy.  some of the files i'm planning are journaling, memorization of scriptures and articles of faith, scripture stories, singing activities for songs they are learning in primary, reading and coloring.  at the rate i'm going i think i'll be done with the sunday box by next year.

for now, here are my kids keeping themselves busy on a typical sunday morning.

she did it

katelyn was feeling ready to get back out on her bike as it got warmer, so when her dad was home the two went outside to practice.  it really didn't take her long to figure out how to balance on her bike.  she just needed that little boost of courage that she really could do it, and she was ready to go.  she can now say that she can officially ride a bike with her training wheels off and with snow boots on.

valentine's day

valentine's day isn't really a holiday we go all out for.  we always have fun dressing the kids up in the holiday colors, the kids get candy from preschool and school, and tyler and i always go out on a date.  that about sums it up!

i managed to grab a picture of tanner with his box he made at preschool.  i thought i had taken one of katelyn, but i can't seem to find any proof of that, so i must have forgotten.  tanner also had one of his best little buds over after preschool, so we grabbed some pictures of them together.  those two really are peas in a pod.

all dressed up and ready to go

one morning reese came down the stairs and happily announced that she was ready to go run errands.  her older sister, who was off-track at the time, helped her get all ready.  we sure love dress ups at our house.

play-doh

i have a love-hate relationship with play-doh.  it keeps my kids entertained all morning, and my kids think i'm pretty awesome for getting it out. but it can be quite messy and every once and a while i catch a certain little boy trying to eat the play-doh.

we hadn't had play-doh in our home for a while.  it had all dried out, so we tossed it.  then i found an incredible deal on a 24 pack of play-doh on amazon and snatched it up.  when it arrived i looked at it and wondered what we were going to do with all that play-doh that i have a love/hate relationship with.  but when i showed it to my kids they were giddy with excitement and couldn't wait to get their hands on it.  and honestly, that made the mess and the eating of the play-doh totally worth it.

sibling love

one of my greatest joys in life comes from being a mother.  especially in moments like these!  i am incredibly grateful for these little ones and the simple ways they show love to each other.

six months

this little lady is six months.  six months!  how is time flying by this quickly?

at six months we finally made brynn cry it out for going to bed at night.  we were at our wits end and needed a legitimate break in the evening before we went to bed.  crying it out was what we all needed, including brynn.  this girl is also sitting up like a big kid.  it has opened up a whole new world for her, including realizing that she never wants to be put on her back again.  now she knows that she's been missing out for six months.  brynn is a little sweetheart with a sensitive nature.  she wants to feel secure and be near mom or dad.  she doesn't enjoy things if she is unfamiliar with them, especially other people or loud noises.   she's a happy baby who for the most part, is pretty content.  brynn still continues to be our hardest baby at night.  she repeatedly wakes up and up and up!  brynn wants to be where her siblings are and is showing great interest in all of their toys.  this little girl honestly brings us so much joy.
