senior banquet

one of the last activities put on by the medical college was the senior banquet.  my parents stayed behind and babysat the kiddos (including a very young reese), which we were so grateful for.  it was nice to be out celebrating tyler's accomplishments with just each other.  the evening was nice, but i must say though that the one flaw with the event was that there was assigned seating.  although it was nice to meet new people, it would have been even nicer to get to chat without our friends one last time.

i'm going to brag here for a minute, sorry!  tyler won an award at the senior banquet.  he was surprised too.  when they called his name he sat there for a minute then finally realized they had said his name, then joined the other recipients up front.  it was a proud moment for me (and it didn't hurt that there was some money attached to his award).  good work doctor hedin.

reese at four months

reese is officially four months old (as of a month ago).  we happened to be driving across the country, waiting to move into our new home then digging through new boxes as she turned four months old.  it was a little busy.  and this wonderful little girl was a trooper through it all.  she is such a good, good baby.  she is the most content little thing around.  she was amazing as we drove across the country.  we were a little worried about her since she didn't love her car seat, but she surprised us by being the content little thing that she is.  she is also our happy little girl.  she loves to give out smiles and loves to laugh.  when she's tired we can always get some good laughs out of her.  she's still a great eater and a great sleeper too.  thank heavens for our little reesers.

end of year bbq

our friends, the leiters and the ostlers, were always so good to organize an end of year bbq these last four years.  we looked forward to it and anticipated being with everyone to celebrate yet another year completed in medical school.
this was our last get together since we were all fourth years, so i think we had the best turn out yet.  we really were so blessed to end up graduating with this group of people.  katelyn had so many friends to play with, there was always someone who was willing to go hang out and so many good examples.

brewers game

as a senior in medical school, you get to participate in various end of year activities.  one of those activities was going to the brewers game and tailgating before hand.  we didn't want to miss our last brewers game in wisconsin, so we signed up to go.  we grabbed a babysitter and enjoyed an evening out with friends (and reese who was too little to be left alone with a sitter).

a great group of ladies!

reesie fell asleep in our arms and let us transfer her to our camping chair.  what a good baby.

saying goodbye to the white coat

after the guys had all completed their final rotation, they decided to get a big group together to go paintballing.  they did this to a) have fun together before they all went their separate ways and b) so they could officially say "goodbye" to their white coats.

i'm pretty sure they all had a ton of fun.  at least i know tyler did.  here they are in the before picture.

and here's the after picture.  notice how their white coats are still, well, white?  the paintball place had recently changed the paintball color to white.  i think all of the wives got a kick out of that one.  but seriously, i'm glad they got to get together one last time before we moved.

the devries come for a visit

the devries decided to come up for one last visit before tyler graduated from medical school.  we were so glad they did!  it's always a good time with the devries family.  we miss visiting with them every once and a while.  move to utah!

while they were visiting we put the kids down for a nap and played a game of settlers, took the kiddos to the park and went out eat at the chancery.  the time went by too quickly, but we were so glad to see them one last time.

mother's day

i know i'm slightly late getting this post done, but i am one lucky mom to have these three wonderful kids in my life.  i love these little ones to bits and pieces.  we have our really good days, and of course we have our rough ones, but they sure bring a ton of added joy to my life.

i am aslo so grateful for all of the other wonderful mothers i'm surrounded by.  i consider myself to be very blessed to be the daughter of my own mother.  i love her and am always grateful for her good example.

happy (late) mother's day.

katelyn's birthday

katelyn turned a big whopping five years old in may!  she really is our big girl.  to celebrate she really wanted one last party before we moved to utah.  it was a busy time of year, but we couldn't pass up this one request since she wouldn't see some of these friends again.

we ended up doing a joint party with her friends eliza and danielle.  it was perfect!  we all divided the responsibility and made everything as simple as possible.  we had a pajama party, so each girl wore their jammies and brought their pillows.  the kids made fruit loop necklaces, played pillow musical chairs, and ate some pancakes and juice.

instead of presents for all the birthday girls, we asked everyone to bring one wrapped book.  we then played a game where they switched books and unwrapped it and were able to take it home. it was a fun party.

katelyn was also able to bring cupcakes to share with her classmates on her birthday.

we are so proud of our little katelyn.  she is such a good girl with a great desire to do what is right.  we love having this sweet spirit in our home.
