a little about reese

our sweet reese on her birthday

we sure love our little reese!  here's a little about her at the ripe old age of two.

  • reese is a very content little thing.  she always was as a baby and still is today. we love how chill and relaxed she is.
  • reese loves to color, dress-up, play with her siblings, play with her dollhouse and pretend to read.
  • when reese eats breakfast she thinks she needs three bowls of cereal and two to three different drinks in front of her.  she honestly can't decide what she wants for breakfast.  she'll make a choice then see that someone else has something better, and of course, she has to have it!
  • reese loves to pat her belly and say, "chunky!!"
  • she's a smartie!  she was a very early talker.  we've never had such an early talker before, so it's been fun being able to communicate with a young one so easily.
  • reese refuses to walk up or down the stairs herself.  she'll sit at the top or bottom for a long time just waiting for someone to pick her up and do the work for her.
  • reese adores her siblings, seriously adores them and wants to be just like all of them.
  • reese can entertain herself so well!  i'll often find her alone in her bedroom or in tanner's room playing with ponies, her dollhouse, little petshop or just reading books to herself.
  • some of reese's favorite sayings are: hold you, it's too boring (she says this when she doesn't want to do something), i not go to bed, i want to color.
  • reese mostly does what her siblings tell her to.  maybe that's a third kid thing?  for example, the kids love to pretend to race up and down our living room.  katelyn and tanner have told her so many times that she lost while racing that now when she races, she automatically yells out loudly, "i lose!"
  • reese does not mind wearing skirts, tights or leggings, but as soon as you put jeans on her she'll say, "no pants!"
we really just adore our little reese.  happy birthday to our little girl!

reese turns two

our little reese isn't so little anymore.  she's now a whopping two years old.  this little girl cracks us up constantly.  we love her more than we could ever express!

that morning we took her to kangaroo zoo, a bounce house place just down the street from where we live.

tyler's vacation worked out perfectly!  he was home all day to celebrate with us.

after all that bouncing fun, we headed home and let reese open her presents.  since christmas she now knows a wrapped present is a good thing.

for some reason, after her present was revealed, she back away and just started at the box.  she really didn't know what to do after that.

once we got the tent out of the box she was sold.

this was supposed to be the group picture, but nothing could deter them away from their play time.

these two helped me make and decorate cupcakes while the birthday girl was asleep.  yeah, i pretty much do cupcakes now.  they're so easy and i'm just not good at making cute cakes.

after reese woke up we told her we going to eat cupcakes.  the poor little thing wanted her cupcake right away and did not want to wait for candles, hence the crying.  we honestly thought she'd get excited after she saw the candles lit, but nope, she wasn't.  tyler just hurried and blew them out so she could eat.

later that evening we met up with all of the hedin family and had pizza and let reese open presents from everyone else.  we love you reese!

home depot kids workshop

that saturday of tyler's vacation we schedule the two older kids to attend one of the kids workshops at home depot.  it was a fun activity for the kids and a great way for tyler to spend some extra time with just  the older kids.

reese was a little sad that she didn't get to go and tried to claim tanner's apron and car for herself when they got home.

the kids had so much fun and loved showing off their creations!  we've since signed them up for more workshops.

church history museum

we also went to the church history museum to let the kids play in the children's area of the museum. tyler had never been there before, and i wanted him to see it.

the zoo

tyler had another vacation at the end of january, which we loved!  he didn't take very many vacations day the first half of this year, so now we're going to get to enjoy lots of vacation days this second half.

we decided we wanted to take the kiddos to the zoo. it was a free zoo day so it was perfect.  it was also perfect because it was overcast that day and drizzled every once a while, so the zoo was not crowded at all!

surprisingly all of the animals were very active that day as well.

see the baby elephant playing?  he dragged that tree around then played with it for a bit.

brynn was happy snuggled up in her stroller for a while.

the picture we have to take every time we go to the zoo.

brynn in the swing

i really wanted to document what reese looked like in the swing at four months.  it's crazy how much she's grown!

any time i pull the camera out she just stares at me wide eyed.

reese was sitting next to us and made a really loud, unexpected noise that startled brynn.

getting sad about the loud noise.

and the noise was apparently too startling.  poor brynn

map of the united states

in our playroom we've hung a big map of the united states.  i mainly did it for décor purposes, but the kids have loved it.  they often point to the different states and ask what the name of it is.  the older kids typically remember what we tell them, but reese has fun going back and asking many of the same names over and over again.
