bear lake-day two

the second day at bear lake was spent at the beach playing in the sand and playing on the boat.  we went to bear lake in early june, so the water was actually still quite cold!  not everyone got into the water that day.

the kids played while we enjoyed the gorgeous view.

katelyn and tanner with grandpa on the boat.

tyler was one of the brave ones to get in the water to ski.

even reese enjoyed the boat ride...kind of.  she slept as the boat was going, but wasn't very happy when the boat stopped.  it could have been the bulky life jacket, but sorry kiddo, it kept you safe.

caleb got buried in the sand and was turned into a mermaid.

all of the men plus a couple of the kids too.

the boys decided to go for a tube ride.  they are so fun to watch while riding together.

probably the best moment while riding.  andy kicked tyler off the tube while being pulled.  sadly, the picture was blurry.

daddy took tanner for a ride too.

i did eventually get on the tube with the other ladies with the promise that they would drive slooooowly.  like i said, the water was freezing.  katelyn rode with us as well.  i probaly wouldn't have posted this picture if katelyn wasn't looking so darn cute.

bear lake-day one

bear lake was a great getaway! i wish i could remember the name of the place where we stayed, but it's been a while. it was perfect though with the park, putt-putt golf and the beautiful beach.

of course the first thing we did when we got there was let the kids explore the park.

do you know how many pictures i have of tyler holding reese when we're out?  so many!  to me it just shows what a great husband/dad he is because he is always giving me a break.

the kids discovered there were rocks and seashells to collect on the beach.  once katelyn discovered this, that's all she wanted to do.

we also had to stop to get some of the raspberry shakes.  you can't go to bear lake without a famous shake!

the big move across country

the weeks leading up to our move to utah, it felt like we spent all of our free time preparing. whether we were packing up, selling old furniture or donating things we didn't need anymore, we were keeping busy. things were going so well! in fact, we were ahead of schedule, until reese decided to stop sleeping the last two days we had left to pack. needless to say, we were not all the way ready when moving day came. that is not the way we've run in the past, so it was hard feeling like we didn't have every last thing packed away when the truck was sitting out front.

thankfully we had some great friends who worked tirelessly on our mound of stuff that needed to be loaded into the truck. i am not kidding when i say they were at our house all day. we can't thank them enough for their help.
(thanks for the moving pictures sarah)

the kids did really, really well on our long drive thanks to movies, bathroom breaks, treats and some naps in between.

one of our stops was in winter quarters, nebraska.  we stopped here on the way out to wisconsin and stopped here again leaving wisconsin.

our dear reese had to endure many long hours in this car seat.  she did so well!  of course there were small moments here and there where she wanted out, but for the most part, she was a champ.

i didn't manage to get any pictures of darren and lori who flew out to help us drive across the country.  we were glad they came to help out!  it made our drive so much easier.

wisconsin home

before we left i really wanted to get a picture of all of us in front of our house.  we loved living in this house and definitely created a lot of great family memories in it.

wisconsin dells

right after graduation we headed up to the wisconsin dells to celebrate tyler's graduation with the hedin family. we've been there before as a family, but we stayed somewhere different. this time we stayed at the wilderness, which we really loved. we had an option of going to three different water parks.

i didn't take many pictures since we were out playing in the water with the kids, but i managed to snag some while the kiddos were taking an eating break.

reese really didn't get into the water.  she mostly slept, watched the swimmers and occastionally ate her bathing suit.

we think she's our smiliest baby.

grandma bought katelyn and reese some matching swimsuits. they looked pretty cute in them!

graduation

after four years of medical school, graduation day finally came. i remember being in the process of going through medical school and thinking how exciting graduation was going to be. it definitely was exciting, but it was also a little surreal that these past four years were actually over. i think it went by much quicker than i ever realized it would.

we headed out earlier in the day to take some pictures of tyler in his cap and gown.

we certainly must give credit to these four for helping us survive medical school.  they supported us in so many, many ways, for which we are very grateful.

i just like this one because tanner decided to sneak by.

the gang of guys before graduation, although not everyone is pictured.

tyler walking across the stage!  during the ceremony i was feeling so overwhelmingly proud of tyler.  what a big accomplishment. (thanks for the great pic, marissa)

and obviously tyler was pretty proud himself.

the newest doctor, doctor hedin.
