reesie is one month old. at one month she is still as sweet as ever. she is a calm baby who hardly ever cries or gets upset. she loves to snuggle and loves to be warm, so at one month old she still dislikes bath time and getting her diaper changed (mostly the she dislikes the cold wipes). she sleeps well and eats like a champ. the kids love reese and love holding and kissing her, especially katelyn. she is smiling at us, and we just adore it. we love our reese!

a visit from tyler's mother
we were also so, so lucky to have tyler's mother come out and help with the kiddos. we feel so grateful for her help as well! we sure are so grateful to lori that she took time off of work to join us in wisconsin.
i can't deny that it was wonderful to be pampered a couple more days. i didn't have to cook, clean, take care of the older kiddos, do any laundry...all because lori did it for us. lori is amazing and did all of the hard work so we didn't have to. and the kids loved getting spoiled with all of the attention from grandma. i'm really fortunate to have such a great mother-in-law. thanks lori for everything you did for us! we love you.

a visit from my mother
we were so, so lucky to have my mom fly out to help us when reese was born. i'm so grateful to my mother for coming. i just know those first two weeks wouldn't have gone nearly as smooth as they did without her help.
it amazes me how much my mother did to help us while she was here. she worked so hard to do our laundry, cook our food, clean our house, run our errands, finish up some of my un-finished projects, be our moral supports when we're tired and most importantly take care of the kiddos. honestly it's amazing. she worked so tirelessly while she was here. i know she was tired when it was time to leave, but my mother never once complained. i'm lucky to have such a great mother and even more lucky that she was willing to take time off from her own busy life to help us out as we welcomed reese into our family. love you mom.
i really didn't take a ton of pictures during those first two weeks, but i did manage to get one of my mother entertaining the kiddos. katelyn and tanner were helping my mom make some chocolate chip cookies.
the day my mom left. reese is giving us an elvis impersonation.
the kids were eating some nerds and decided they wanted to take a picture with a nerd on their tongues.

valentine's day
we had a fun valentine's day this year. tyler and i were able to go out thanks to my mom the day before valentine's day. we had a tasty meal at qdoba together where we were able to talk with each other. boy that was nice. we love our kids, but it's always nice to have some time together as a couple.
we dressed little reesie up in v-day colors.
tanner seems like a giant now that reese is here. it's funny that days before she was born i was holding tanner and telling him that he was my little baby boy.
katelyn had the best time at school. who wouldn't on a day like valentine's day where you come home with a bag full of goodies? katelyn was really proud that her teacher chose her to demonstrate how to pass out your candy to each person in the class.
we finished up our valentine's evening with a pink and red dinner. pink pancakes, pink smoothie, red strawberries and a dessert with red fruit on top.

two weeks old
reese at two weeks old. she left the hospital weighing 6 lbs 11 oz and at two weeks she only weighs 6 lbs 13 oz. she is a little peanut who needs to gain more weight quickly. this girl is really hard to wake up or keep awake for a feeding.
during these pictures reese really wanted to be in charge of her own little hands. i didn't have much say as to where they ended up. i would move them one way, and she would move them back again.
i know these aren't the "traditional" newborn pictures, but i wasn't going for traditional this time. i just wanted some simple, clean, fresh, somewhat natural looking pictures.

heading home
after spending a couple of (fairly) restful days in the hospital, we headed home with our sweet baby reese. although i did enjoy the recovery period in the hospital, i was anxious to get home to the rest of the family.
miss reese ava hedin
here's our sweet, sweet baby reese. she joined our family on february 3, 2012 at 8:28 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 1 oz. oh how we already adore this sweet little girl so much.
our little reese came out with a minimal amount of dark hair and a great set of lungs!
here is the proud doctor hedin after delivering his own little girl. it was a neat moment for me to watch him do such an amazing job on his most important delivery to date.
reese got to meet her brother and sister for the first time. katelyn was enamored and tanner really could have cared less. he just wanted to explore the hospital room and push the buttons on my bed so it would move up and down.
and of course grandma made the time spent in the hospital easier by taking such good care of katelyn and tanner. we're so glad she's here!
